5 things that happen you're properly hydrated

It's the holidays, and while most of us are waiting until our New year, New me syndrome kicks in, I'm being proactive about my health as we head deeper into the holiday season.

You've probably read tons of articles telling you why it's important get be properly hydrated, but today I'm partnering with Thermos to tell you changes I noticed once I started reaching my hydration goals.

It can be difficult to keep up with how much water you've consumed throughout the day, especially during finals and the holidays. I got to try out the Thermos Connected Hydration Bottle with Smart Lid this week and I've been hitting my hydration goals non stop.

This Bottle with Smart Lid made is insanely easy to keep up with my daily water intake. At the beginning of the year, I use to use a stamp in my planner to track my water. Each time I finished a glass I marked it off, the problem is some days I'd forget to mark my water and most of the time it was nothing but guess work as to how much water I had consumed. Well I think that was an  8oz glass?

With the Thermos Connected Hydration Bottle with Smart Lid there's no more guess work and definitely no more stamps.

The Bottle with Smart Lid has a sensor tube on the lid that keeps up with the temperature and how much you're drinking. Then, it sends the info straight to your compatible Apple device. Every time you finish a bottle, the Thermos app automatically sends the information to your FitBit app which makes keeping track of your over all health a breeze.

If you're off track from your daily hydration goal, you’ll receive an alert with a friendly reminder to keep drinking water. It also keeps you from becoming too hydrated.

I really like the fact that this bottle looks like a normal water bottle. I've had a bottle or two leak in my backpack before, but the latch on the Bottle with Smart Lid makes me feel safe throwing it in my backpack between classes. I received mine in Teal. Let's get onto the things that started happening once I started hitting my #HydrationGoals.

1. My skin cleared up

I've always had a some trouble with acne and all the articles I read about clearing up your skin started with keeping hydrated. The thing is, every single cell in your body requires water to function. Water lubes up your joints, helps maintain your temperature, and removes waste. Being properly hydrated won't just help clear up your skin, but it's one of the definite perks.

2. I skip the sugary drinks

My dad use to tell me by the time you feel thirsty you're already dehydrated. Because I've been reaching my #HydrationGoals I've had less of a craving for sodas or juices which are basically empty calories. I'm definitely not the most athletic or health crazed blogger out there, but being healthy is something that should be important to everybody.

3. I feel more energized

Since I've started using my Thermos Connected Hydration Bottle with Smart Lid, I've started chugging an entire bottle of water in the mornings before breakfast. This makes me feel more awake, which is really hard for me in the mornings, and I instantly feel like I've had a better start to my day. Also, I've found that by chugging a bottle before my morning coffee, I'm more motivated to reach my 67oz goal as quickly as possible.

4. I make smarter diet choices

I suck at watching what I eat. Why? Because I love food, like, the really not-so-good for you kind of food. But changing the way I think about hydration has also changed how I think about my health in general. Instead of this huge goal of "OMG I need to lose weight before my friends wedding next fall" I'm more focused on smaller, everyday goals.

Because my Bottle with Smart Lid Syncs with my FitBit, it's motivated me to start using the food log and activity tracker more and more. While I'm not logging every single calorie or hitting the gym five times a week, I am making smaller, smarter choices that affect my long term health. Things like taking the stairs or taking a little walk between classes instead of camping out on the computer in Starbucks.

I hope you look into  the Thermos Connected Hydration Bottle with Smart Lid and keep your health and hydration in mind as we move into the holidays. How do you guys have trouble staying hydrated everyday? What tips do you guys have? Leave me a comment below.

  1. I love the bottle. It's so easy to spot and I can easily look at the app to see how much I drank for the day even if I lose track. Great post.

  2. What a great concept for people who keep track of their water intake. I don't do that now. But after reading your post, it may be my 2016 goal to keep track of my water intake!
