Hello! I'm experimenting with patterns and I've made a free phone background. Chevron is insanely popular so I thought it'd be a good place to start. Let me know what you all think because I'd love to do more or these.

Markus Zusak wrote my all time favorite book The Book Thief. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone! I'm not really feeling this one as far a design but I've been sick the past few days and felt like I needed to get something out there.

Hello! Here's a list of fonts I use a lot. Links to download each are below. Please note I've changed kerning (spacing) of most of the fonts in the image below.
I did more work with filters in Photoshop on this one. I've noticed I'm doing simpler designs and getting the main focus of my posters from Photoshop, For example this one is heavy on the texture of the background and on my last one the colored shapes on the tree photo.
Hello everyone! I found these two really nerdy but very cool typography games you might enjoy.
The first is a Kerning game. Kerning is simply spacing between letters. The point is to see if you can eyeball the proper spacing of different words.
The second is a "shape type" game where you try and eyeball the proper shape of letters using a pen like tool. I found this one a lot harder than the first but try it for yourself.

This is one of my all time favorite band's covers!
Hello! Here's the first ever gif I made! It took me a while to find a solid tutorial to do this, I actually didn't follow one tutorial completely but just figured things out myself and went to tutorials when I had questions. If you're interested I mostly used these two: Video from YouTube & Gizmodo. The Gizmodo one I used for how put it together, unlike the one in the tutorial I only used pictures and the one from youtube I used to figure out how to save and format. I'm really excited to learn more with gifs and CS6.
Edit: I just uploaded this to tumblr and there was a problem with it only going through the slides first. I had to go back and save the gif with the "Looping Options" set to "forever" which makes sense. It seems to work fine for blogger though.

Each of my designs are taking more and more time as I learn new things in InDesign and Photoshop. I was literally in the process of uploading this one and hitting publish when I changed my mind and went back to change the layout of this entirely. I'm looking into how to make gifs in the coming week which should be interesting.

Here's a quote from Dalai Lama. Creating the hearts was really challenging. I think I got the balance of the colors right (rule of thirds anyone?). I'm really happy with how this one turned out.
Hello everyone! My co-designer for newspaper next year has just started up a blog of his own. He's a very talented designer and such a fun person to be around. Here are a few examples of his work. Please be sure to check him out!

I'm not sure how I feel about these colors. According to Kuler they're complementary colors but the more I look at it the more it reminds me of Barney. Maybe they're just to harsh for my taste, but I've a bad habit of only doing gloomy designs, I figured this would brighten things up a bit.

This is a really quick one. I used a lot of the techniques from the photoshop tutorial I posted earlier. Mostly dodge and burning and some filtering things but no real skin editing. Link to original image is below.
This was my first photoshop project where I edited a picture. I found all these pictures from google images but links for the originals are below. I followed this tutorial by pstutorialsws, it was really easy and I learned a lot. If you're interested be sure to check them out.
This was my second one and I think it turned out much better. I use a picture of an actual model this time so I don't feel as bad about critiquing their skin. I used the same tutorial but skipped the parts I remembered. Hopefully I'll be able to do all this without any help at all soon.
Thanks for letting me use your pictures, I only used them for the sake of improving my Photoshop skills. I had no intention taking credit for your photographs and your images were not in need of editing.
